Discover what's inside the Xuan Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains physical edition for Nintendo Switch, including its epic story, restock details, and whether it's worth the wait.
Quick answer
If you're a fan of classic Chinese RPGs and want a physical Switch copy, the Xuan Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains Physical Edition is a solid pick—just be ready to wait for the restock shipping.
Why this physical edition stands out
Xuan Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains is a beloved Chinese RPG that finally arrives on Nintendo Switch. This physical edition lets you own the game on a cartridge, which is great for collectors who prefer tangible media over digital downloads.
The game's story spans Eurasia, Arabia, Francia, and China, offering a unique blend of Eastern and Western mythology. If you enjoy epic tales with historical and fantastical elements, this title delivers a rich narrative experience.
The restock catch
The physical edition is currently being restocked, with shipping expected to start by February 2025. If you order now, you'll need to be patient. This isn't a product you'll receive overnight, so plan accordingly if you're buying it as a gift or for an upcoming gaming session.
For those who want to play immediately, a digital version might be more practical. But if you value having a physical copy in your collection, the wait is part of the deal.
Trade-offs to consider
One trade-off is the wait time. While the restock ensures availability, it delays your ability to play. Another consideration is the price: at $25.99 (compared to a catalog price of $39.99), you're getting a discount, but you're still committing to a physical purchase without immediate gratification.
Also, this is a niche RPG. If you're not familiar with the Xuan Yuan Sword series, you might want to research the gameplay style first. It's a turn-based RPG with a strong focus on story, which may not appeal to everyone.
Decision rules: Should you buy it?
- If you're a collector: Buy it if you want a physical Switch cartridge of a classic RPG. The wait is acceptable because you're adding a rare title to your shelf.
- If you want to play now: Skip the physical edition and get the digital version instead. The restock wait won't satisfy your immediate gaming itch. Check the eShop for digital availability.
- If you're new to the series: Research gameplay videos or reviews first. If you enjoy story-driven turn-based RPGs, this is a safe bet; otherwise, you might regret the purchase. Watch a gameplay trailer before committing.
